What is Christmas Touring?
Every year, Taproot produces four Christmas shows that tour to organizations throughout the Puget Sound region. The shows vary in length (35-60 minutes) and in size (2-4 actors). The entire show (cast, props, costumes, etc.) fits into a medium-sized vehicle to facilitate travel.
Are the shows religious in nature?
The majority of our Christmas touring shows tour to churches, and are Advent-themed. One show every year, our Christmas Improv, has no religious theme and is appropriate for any organization. For specifics, please contact touring@taproottheatre.org.
How long have you been doing this?
Taproot began as a touring theatre in 1976, and continues to tour shows throughout the year and during the holiday season.
What does Taproot require to be able to do the show?
We bring everything we need with us. The shows do not require any special lighting or sound, and can be performed on stages of varying sizes. It can be helpful to know the size of your space when you call to schedule.
Do you provide amplification for your actors?
Taproot is unable to provide sound amplification, but the actors are happy to wear wireless over-the-ear or lapel microphones provided by the client or venue. Our actors are trained to be heard by a group of 230 or less without amplification.
When are the shows announced?
Typically, we have two new shows every year, and two shows are remounted from the year before. The Christmas touring shows are selected and announced on our website in the summer.
When can I schedule my show?
Existing clients have the option to renew their date from the previous year by January 31. Requests for renewal changes are processed by the end of February. The calendar opens to the general public on March 1 every year. See the Christmas Touring Renewals page for more details.
Are the shows appropriate for children?
The shows are written with ages 10 and up in mind. They may not hold the attention of younger audiences.
Do you provide marketing materials?
After you book a performance, we will send you marketing files along with your booking information. These include a website banner image, and a poster template in 8×11 and 11×17 sizes. You are also welcome to use images from our website, but these are the only promotional materials we are able to provide.
