Art, crafts, music, games, coaching sessions and so much more…
Side gigs are nothing new for theatre folks and many Seattle artists have been putting their creative talents to use in various ways during this COVID-19 shut down period. Here are just a few examples of the amazing work that theatre artists have been doing “on the side”.
Larry Albert: Aural Visio LLC
Theatre artists, John Patrick Lowrie and Larry Albert produce and syndicate professional full cast audio dramas. They use talented voices who are members of SAG-AFTRA, many of whom have appeared at Taproot. Aural Visio sells their products as $1.99 downloads. You may have seen Larry on the Taproot stage as The Bailiff in The Trial of Ebenezer Scrooge (pictured here).
D.R. Amromin: Sugarcoat Seattle
Dana Amromin is a sound designer AND a pastry chef. She serves up custom sweets of all kinds and can ship them anywhere in the US. If you found brownies in your Gala box…those came fresh from the Sugarcoat Seattle kitchen! Check out her Instagram page to order more.
Keith Dahlgren: DW Distilling
DW Distilling distils their brandy from already-casked Washington wines, which adds unique flavors and shortens the cask times after distillation. They use all-copper pot-stills, and they cask their brandy in American oak, which adds lovely vanilla and caramels to the taste. Each wine brings its own individual flavor to the brandy, so no two are alike.
Edd Key: The RedBarn Studio
The RedBarn Studio offers music teaching and coaching – both individual and group sessions–in voice and most instruments. The studio also offers audio and video recording and production, songwriting and composition.
Queens N Things features pretty accessories for women by women. Handmade and handpainted earrings—many one of a kind! Specializing in big statement pieces and ankara fabric pieces. Please order through my Instagram page or Etsy shop.
Matthew Posner: Hand to Mouth Creative
The fun “chipper” puppet featured in Taproot’s 2021 Gala was created by Seattle theatre artist, Matthew Posner. Check out “Instagram: @handtomouthcreative” for more custom puppets of all shapes and sizes!
Emily Ravenscraft: Kentucky Chamber Orchestra
You might have heard Emily and her violin in Taproot’s musical, Sweet Land (pictured here). She’s also a member of The Kentucky Chamber, a community orchestra promoting arts in the Louisville region. Check out their website for upcoming performances.
Miranda Antoinette Troutt: Miranda Antoinette Designs
Miranda designs and builds custom garments as well as providing alterations, repairs, or re-purposing services. She also creates and sells ready-made garments and accessories. The majority of her work uses recycled fabrics and repurposes old garments instead of letting them be thrown away. Most Miranda Antoinette designs incorporate elements of fantasy, whimsy, or vintage/historical inspired elements.
Brad Walker: D&D with Brad
Need someone to lead you and your friends and family on a harrowing, interactive adventure? Whether you are new to Dungeons and Dragons or are a veteran hero, Brad runs online games of D&D that are character and story-driven, and always a great time!
