Tickets for Pay What You Can Performances:

Small changes, big benefits! PWYC got a makeover and now features regular-priced tickets available in advance, $10 tickets offered starting at noon day of show, and pay-what-you-can pricing in-person day of show.
NEW: No longer general admission, this performance has some of the best seats of the run!

Three ways to buy:

  • Purchase regular-priced tickets in advance online or by phone
  • A limited number of $10 tickets are offered starting at noon. Tickets may be purchased online,  in-person, or by phone. Limit 4 tickets per person.
  • Starting at 5 pm, tickets are name-your-own-price. These tickets may be purchased in person only. Limit 4 tickets per person. $1 minimum.
Any tickets purchased with a debit or credit card have an added $3 per ticket fee.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What time should I get to the theatre to purchase tickets?
Tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis. We never know exactly when tickets may sell out so we recommend arriving as close to 5 pm as possible or consider buying $10 tickets over the phone before 5 pm.

What time do the doors open?
The lobby and concessions open 1 hour before curtain and the house is open approximately 30 minutes before curtain.

When do tickets sell out?
PWYC tickets sell out at different times depending on the popularity of the show.

How many tickets can I buy?
There is a limit of 4 tickets per person.

Can I pick my seats in advance?
Yes. Seating is assigned at the time your ticket is purchased. Doors open 30 minutes before curtain for seating. If you have accessible seating needs please call the Box Office directly for options.

Are tickets cash only?
No, we accept VISA, MasterCard, American Express and Discover as well as local checks. There is an additional $3 per ticket fee when paying with a debit or credit card.

Can I buy tickets online?
$10 tickets can be purchased online beginning at noon on the day of the performance. PWYC tickets are available in person and at the door ONLY beginning at 5pm on the day of the performance.

Taproot Theatre Company’s Senior Matinee program provides seniors with an affordable way to participate in live theatre. Seniors aged 62 and older can enjoy a convenient daytime performance at our theatre. We offer Sennheiser listening devices, a Hearing Loop in the Jewell Mainstage Theatre, and limited wheelchair- and walker-accessible seating.

Intergenerational Matinees

Welcome to Intergenerational Matinees at Taproot Theatre! Our intergenerational program enhances student education, providing theatre as a tool and springboard for learning, growth and communication. Additionally, these matinees are intended to bridge a gap between student and senior groups creating a learning environment where different ages can interact and discuss the play.

  • Teachers are invited to attend free preview performances.
  • Free reproducible Play Guide that includes articles relating to the show, an early look at the set and costumes, a list of related books/movies/tv shows recommended by the Seattle Public Library, and questions for you and your students to answer after seeing the play.
  • Participate in a lively post-play discussion that includes the actors and director.
  • For an additional fee Taproot Theatre is happy to arrange theatre tours, special talks with theatre designers, and/or classroom visits to enhance your humanities curriculum.
